Katie Dey – real love

rosi – Here

UK electronic duo rosi’s new single “Off The Tracks” is a mesmerizing track with ethereal vocals, floating tendrils of acoustic guitar, and subtle electronics. It feels like a fresh update of trip-hop.

Rosi – Off The Tracks

It’s a circle, waking up in patterns
Double vision, nothing really matters anymore
Empty sunlight gathers all around me
Like a flood light, up the walls and alleys

And I hate the way that I let it get to me
Yeah I hate the way that I let it get to me

I’m a fox caught in a trap
I don’t know how to get back from here
Close the doors without a crack
Cause I’m running off, yeah I’m running off
Oh I’m running off the tracks

the post-pandemic future ちなみに、Daughter, Haute, Agar Agara に近しい。

Smooth and mellow, this second single by British duo, rosi, is quite a gorgeous track. Multi-instrumentalist Chris Petrosino and singer-songwriter Joni Mathews released in September their first single, “White Lie”, as rosi, but, “Off the Tracks” is the first song they actually wrote as a band. It starts with a nostalgic guitar line that marks the tone and loops through out the entirety of the song; synth, drums and beats are added and removed to best accompany the beautiful and velvety vocals by miss Matthews, making this song feel graceful, elegant, and a tad dreamy.

oropendola – stillness
Joanna Schubert

january air heavy
the restless oropendola is swinging
where are you, my sweet?
trills the feathered fella
singing a spring song
don’t you worry
winter won’t last much longer, dear
but while it’s here
slow down
don’t you hurry
the silence of empty nests
do you feel this stillness?
do you feel this stillness?
do you feel this stillness?

The oropendola is a gregarious, enchanting bird native to South and Central America. Ki’s** name translates to “golden pendulum,” due to a charming penchant for swinging upside down from tree branches while seeking a mate.
