For Julia-Sophie, music is a point of endless return: it’s in her blood. After years of playing in Motown signed rock band Little Fish and, more recently, dream pop collective Candy Says, supporting everyone from Debbie Harry to Idles and The Japanese House, Julia-Sophie has finally found her hullabaloo within the storm. Earning her place in the avant-pop sisterhood of FKA Twigs, Grimes, Half-Waif and Natasha Kahn, Julia-Sophie’s palette is a mix of the hot, liquid, cool and electric: she sings of desire and loss, control and release.

サビのイッパツが「Nobody wants me here」念押しの繰り返しだからその「どやさっ！」って執念がなんともすげえ。いらないもの、くだらないものが多いなか「誰も望んでいない」って偏執スゲエなやっぱし。変質。こころの闇が加わりました。どうせ自分なんて感ダクダクのの危険信号かも。ジュリアソフィー Julia-Sophie さんのデビューソロ EP「Y?」ひと昔まえの２０００年代にオックスフォードでオルタナロックバンド「Little Fish」をやってた頃はジュジュと呼ばれて、そのあと Candy Says キャンディセッズってヴェルヴェットアンダーグラウンドがちょーむかしにだした曲と同じ名前のドリームポップユニットで活動したり。ギターをもってフロントセンターに立ってた彼女が引っ込んでからシンセのお部屋に籠りがちになって、IAMAMWHOAMI スタイルでひとりぼっちでソロアルバムを制作されました、ジュリアソフィーさんのデビューソロ EP「Y?」を誰も望んでいないし。「x0x」だって誰も望んでいない、と絶望的に悲観しているのかもしれません。更年期しるしの危険信号かも。

– to me, the music on this record is more than simply music on a record. the songs and sounds represent my life. it was all written and recorded over a period of time when i was both falling in and out of love. my heart was heavy and my life was in chaos. i was very lost and in a lot of pain. so yes, this record is my truth. the songs and sounds are me trying my best to be as honest as i can about how i feel, all whilst exploring new electronic sounds for the first time. it took a lot for me believe in myself to venture into the world as a solo artist. this record was my vision and i am proud to share it all with you now. i hope that you enjoy what i made.
