Spiritually, ‘R.Y.C’ (Raw Youth Collage) addresses a generational addiction to nostalgia, and its uses (and limits) as means of coping with the difficulties of the present. Influenced by ideas around Hauntology, it explores the irony that in times of increased urbanisation and digitisation, somehow it’s never been easier to feel lonely.

すでに16年のフジロックに登場してるアレックス・クロッサン（Alex Crossan）こと、エレクトロニックプロデューサー、DJ, 銘刀「村まさ。」昨年フジロックのリストでも名前をみかけたけどまったくしごく残念でした。ちなみに1996年生まれ、UKジャージー島出身。若すぎるエレクトロニック。㊤の曲は、イギリスの若きエレクトロニック天才 Mura Masa が今年 1月にリリースしたエレクトロニックセカンドアルバム R.Y.C (Raw Youth Collage) via Geffen Records に収録されてる Teenage Headache Dreams。ロックバンド、ウルフアリス（Wolf Alice）の女ボーカル、Ellie Rowsell をフィーちゃ。
Mura Masa ft Ellie Rowsell ‘Teenage Headache Dreams’ by Marcus Söderlund ミュージックビデオのなかでは、Becky Namgauds と Ethan Jacobs のふたりのダンサーがドス暗い空模様の㊦、不気味な頭痛やノスタルジー、軋み、若さ、絶望と希望の葛藤と格闘します。内側と外側、男と女、主体と客体、西洋と非西洋みたいにシンプルに２分している描き方だけだと概念的には物足りないことこの上ない。レトロすぎでしょ。曲はＳんげえ良くて好きなんだけど。好きなんだけど離れてるのさ。ってのがきのうみた夢でした。てかこんなタイトルだったら目の前にエサをぶら下げられてるのと同じ。勝手に食いついてしまうでしょう。
“Through [choreographer] Holly Blakey I began to learn a new language. Listening to her talking about movement and space, with Ethan and Becky, opened up a new world and a new way to express myself, in a new language. All these different aspects could have stood in the way for my emotions, but watching Ethan and Becky in the film makes me feel a lot. The idea is about the hope and hopelessness you feel when being young, about wanting to leave but staying.”
Mura Masa has today dropped the striking visual for “No Hope Generation”. Directed by Yoni Lappin in Serbia, the track introduces Mura Masa’s second album ‘R.Y.C’ (Raw Youth Collage)

TORRES – I got the fear
TORRES—aka Mackenzie Scott—presents “I got the fear,” the new single from her forthcoming album What an enormous room, out January 26. Scott says: “A collective dread has been mounting. Everyone I know is having a brawl with the universe, with themselves…wars, climate catastrophe, a pandemic, the worldwide regression on human rights, the political hellscape—it affects everybody, and I know we’re all feeling it in waves of varying degree all the time. I think it’s really important that we find a way to get our hopes back up. I’m here to try to help light the way if I can. Most days I really believe humanity will find a way. But there’s a nagging anxiety that maybe that won’t happen. One has to wonder if it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy that a species that believes it’s doomed will doom itself.”
